Biography

 

Sophia Balestri grows up in the region of Paris, at the edge of the druidic forest of Senart. From early childhood, she composes and illustrates small tales and poems, inspired by the Nature and its mythology.

In 1994, she undertakes a solo journey to Australia. Enchanted by the vastness and variety of its landscape and captivated by the visionary legends of its natives, she crosses the continent over a year and compiles several short stories.

On her return to France, she dedicates herself to poetry and painting. Moreover, she collaborates in writing scenarios for various short films.

From 1999, her interest in symbolism and the innermost depths of the psyche drives her to study Jungian psychoanalysis.

In 2001, she composes lyrics for ten songs, concentrating the next year on a collection of short stories inspired by her dreams.

Pursuing her research on symbolism, she also studies philosophy during three years, seeking to interpret the movements of consciousness and its consequences for the human fate.

In 2008, publication of her first novel, La Plume et l’Envol, by Le Manuscrit Publishings.

In 2009, Sophia Balestri studies the psychogenealogical interpretation of the tarot of Marseille with the team of the master of tarots Alejandro Jodorowsky (also philosopher and surrealist artist), which inspires her the new collective project XXII, an artistic introduction to the tarot of Marseille through musical videos, co-written with various international artists.

To date, the author works on a novel in two volumes, entitled Almonis and Lisore (see details in the "Literature" section).
